no. very far. if y=13

sqrt(2)y=13-7-4=2

sqrt(2)y=2...y=sqrt(2)<<<13 so u contradicted yourself here.

if u mean sqrt(2)sqrt(y)... it's far too

sqrt(2)sqrt(y)=2 sqrty=sqrt2, y=2<<<13

or do u mean
√(2y+7)+4=y

2y+7=(y-4)^2
2y+7=y^2 +16 -8y
y^2-10y+9=0
(y-9)(y-1)=0

y=1 and y=9.... still.. far from 13

if by this you mean

sqrt(2y + 7) + 4 = y
sqrt(2y + 7) = y - 4

square both sides

2y + 7 = (y - 4)^2
2y + 7 = (y - 4)(y - 4)
2y + 7 = y^2 - 4y - 4y + 16
2y + 7 = y^2 - 8y + 16
y^2 - 10y + 9 = 0
(y - 9)(y - 1) = 0

y = 1 or 9

if you are not sure of your answer, just plug it in.

The notation is a bit ambiguous. The last two answers reflect this. You may want to elaborate: is it sqrt(2y), or sqrt(2)*y?

sqrt(2y)+11=y
sqrt(2y)=y-11
2y=y^2-22y+121
y^2-24y+121=0
