Helmet laws are regarded by right-thinking (as in "correct", not "conservative") motorcyclists as "nanny government in action".
I always wear my helmet, even when I travel up to South Carolina where there are no laws requiring me to. This is because I CHOOSE to, not because some fat state representative who never rode a bike in his worthless, trough-swilling life told me I had to.
While I regard "riding free" of a helmet to be a form of Darwinism in action, I also believe that the government has no right to make those kinds of personal lifestyle choices for us.
Connecticut is a "good" state, because it knows enough, at least in this instance, to keep its legalistic paws off our heads.
That's why.

All these people who DON'T ride a motorcycle and preach about how dumb riders who don't wear a helmet are should think about how much there is around their head, while driving a car, that could squish their tiny brain.
All that glass, steel pillars, the steering wheel, your groceries in the back seat.....ect.....ect.....
If they must preach about riders wearing helmets, SO SHOULD THEY !!!

As far as why CT doesn't have a helmet law, because we live in the USA and it was the choice of the people NOT to have one.

Helmet laws, along with seat belt laws and other such foolishness, are passed by politicians who think that folks are too stupid to make choices for themselves. While wearing a helmet (or a seat belt) is a good idea, it should be up to the person how much risk they want to take!

As an adult, I do not need a "nanny" telling me how to live my life, and what risks I can take.

"Politics" from the Latin

poli = many
tics = small blood suckers!!

many states do not have a helmet law. PA just dropped theirs a few years ago. NH does not have one. NJ might as well drop it because the fine is only $25.00 and no points. but if you have a helmet its best to wear it. i have been hit with stones from passing cars that chipped the paint off my helmel that would have really hurt if i did not have it on.

I think if a person is riding a motorcycle and doesn't have a helmet on (or one on their precious girlfriend or child riding on the back) = no brains.
No helmet, no brains. We need a law to be passed and inforced.

Can't tell you exactly why CT doesn't, but here in Illinois we don't have one because we have a very strong ABATE that lobbys to keep our rights. Helmets are just like tattoos and abortions, if you don't like them - don't have them, but don't tell others what THEY can/cannont do. The saying is 'let those who ride decide'.
