I haven't worked on computers in a while due to the decling need for computer techs.
Look on yahoo how to increase Virtual Memory size, the increase it as needed. When system memory (RAM) is full it uses virtual memory (space on hard drive) to act as memory, but no where near as fast as physical RAM.
It will also help to buy more RAM for your PC.

there are 3 types of memory on your computer.
1.) hard drive
2.) RAM (main memory)
3.) virtual memory
your hard drive is VERY slow but has a lot of memory. RAM is very fast but doesnt have a whole lot of memory.
your computer can only process the information that it has in RAM. But to get information onto RAM the computer has to read from the hard disk.
So the computer tries to keep the information it thinks that it will need on RAM so that it doesnt have to keep going back to the hard disk. The problem is that since there is so little room on RAM that you might not be able to store all the information you need for all the programs you have running. So your computer is constantly swapping files back and forth between RAM and the hard drive. this is a very slow process!
Virtual memory is just space allocated on your hard drive to compensate for the low storage capacity of RAM. If RAM runs out of room but there is still information your computer needs to put on RAM then it will write that information onto your hard drive. It still takes a long time but it allows your main memory (RAM) to utilize more memory than it would be able to otherwise. Thats why they call it virtual memory... cause its not really main memory, but it is to help main memory.
theres three things that i know of that you can do.
1.) buy more RAM
2.) >control panel
.... >system
.... >advanced tab
.... >performance, settings button
.... >advanced tab
.... >virtual memory, change button
...and then change your virtual memory.
1000MB = 1 GB
change it by 500MB at a time and see if you notice any difference.
3.)theres too much junk running on your computer! download both of these anti-virus/anti-spyware programs and run them.
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/Get+AVG+FREE/lng/us/tpl/v5
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
that will get rid of some programs on your computer that are running without your knowledge and eating up your recourses.
also click start, then run, then type MSCONFIG.EXE and hit enter. click the startup tab. these are the programs that run at startup. ucheck ALL of them that you dont use! they are eating up your RAM and probably using your internet connections to check for more updates which you will never use.

Virtual memory is a little(!) part of the "hard disk" that windows uses a memory like RAM. If your free disk space is low then you will get the warning that windows can't use virtual memory. And of course the speed of ur PC would decrese!

virtual memory is a memory that set in the Hard Disk not in RAM, its a protocol to spped up th fetch data from hardDisk to the RAM,
you can increase the Virtual memory as some friends answer you above,
but you have to clear some unused files and folders from your harddisk.
remember there is no thing related with RAM in you problem,
try to emty many data up to 20% of your hardDisk must be emty in eash drive so you can have a better performance.

Something to do with the software trying to use more RAM than the system is fitted with...... and can't tell the difference between the RAM cards slotted into your motherboard and the VIRTUAL memory (on your hard drive)..... from what I can make out on these GOOGLE searches:
http://www.askbobrankin.com/low_virtual_memory.html
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;837869
http://www.devlib.org/forums/thread152.html
And the cure seems to be to do a few little upgrades:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Memory_8.html
But maybe also give it a checkover @ http://www.pcpitstop.com/

Do you have McAfee installed? do you have privacy service installed? if so get rid of the Privacy service, it conflicts with others and causes the message about low ram.
