Boltzmann, of the boltzmann eq'n and constant had the botlzmann eq'n carved on his tome
It's common knowledge that Newton invented "the calculus" but a german philosopher named Leibniz came up with it at the same time (probably earlier but Newton said he just hadn't published it, which he did often, so it might be true) and there was a bitter fight to see who would get credit. Newton won, but we use Leibniz's notation.(This began a pretty much life-long science fued in which Newton fudged results of experiments to publish faster-acccording to alot of people)
And, specific to chemistry:
Technecium is right in the middle of the transition metals, and it's radioactive. Nothing that surrounds it is, and they have no idea why just because there's no trend that we know of that would make it radioactive.
There's tons more. I love science trivia, nice question!

History books are keen to tell about discovery of radium by Marie Curie and her husband around 1900 or so, but did you know that one of the first uses of radium was in a radioactive "whitening" toothpaste that was being marketed to "make your teeth so clean they glow". Soon after, radioactive skin cream was marketed to "rejuvenate" your skin to a "youthful glowing appearance"?!?
Funny thing is, after my gales of laughter subsided... I reflected on that thought and I realized that I currently use a whitening toothpaste (different ingredients entirely), BUT had I been alive back in early 1900s - I would have been the first one down to the drug store to get a tube (or several tubes) of that amazing toothpaste! :o
