It looks so appealing on t.v., but it's pretty dull in reality. If you're basing your thoughts on CSI and NCIS and all of those other shows, remember those are for entertainment, and the reality's much more dull, methodical, and at least in the crime lab I've toured, there was no "one size fits all" thing. The guys who tested firearms were NOT the same ones who looked at insects and trace evidence. There's much more specialization than what you see on TV.
And like the person who mentioned the job market said, definitely make sure you have something to fall back on, because most places don't even have a forensics department because they're so expensive to maintain, and the people who are in the field already know they're in a very select field, so they hold onto their jobs. It may take you several years to get into a position.

I have just finished my Chemistry masters degree, with the intention of entering this field I can tell you there are VERY few jobs, especially with people now able to take a degree on purely forensic science.
I'm not saying give up the idea but make sure you have backup options.

Absolutely! I could do without the blood, but all the other stuff the CSI's do fascinates me! I love the way they can unravel the clues and arrive at the truth...thereby catching the scumbag and putting him/her where they belong!

I wanted to do that when I was younger. I was fascinated with it. I couldn't cope with a body full of maggots though.

until you have to do a home with children in it and the mom and dad too
then it starts to become to much to deal with.
regular people ( adults ) aren't to bad to do, but those children, they never get out of your mind.
and when they were burnt to death.you never ever get that smell out of your head.ever..
sorry you asked,
