Movement of the earth around the sun on its orbit is called revolution. This causes seasons.

Movement of the earth on its axis (spinning of the earth on its own axis ) is called rotation. This causes day and night.

Rotation- Moving around on it's own axis - like a top - like earth rotating
Revolving- Moving around another object - like earth around sun
