Stanley Kubrick adapted both those movies from books; but he put his unique and strange stamp on both works. Did he get a kick out of depicting the horrific things that happen in both movies? I would have to say that he was fascinated by deviant and violent behavior. I'm a big fan of both movies, but a female friend of mine is repulsed by A Clockwork Orange. I think it's masterpiece, but there is definitely something twisted about the film.

Aren't we all just a little bit insane?.
Isn't the world a crazy place to be these days?.
Some people focus on reality with a depth and vision that most would not understand.
To the rest of us that guy may seem 'from another planet'.

Loved 2001 since seeing it at the cinema when it came out(1969 I think).
For that and more Kubrick rates as one of my heroes.

Wish we had more like him.

As with "Eyes Wide Shut" and all his other films, it was always hard to imagine what was going through Stanley Kubrick's head. Amazing, genius and really out there.
