set up a system of equations
5x+2y=150
4x+3y=162
just solve that by isolating one variable and substituting into the other equation, then plugging that answer in and solving for the other variable.

if you give up, the sugar costs $18 and the salt costs $30.

Simple, simultaneous equations:

1) 5x + 2y = 150
2) 4x + 3y = 162
----------------------

Multiply Equation (1) by 3
Multiply Equation (2) by 2

Solve for x, then substitute x value into original equation (1). solve for y

you should get that 1kg sugar = $1, 1kg salt = $1

simple. use linear equation.
5x + 2y = 150....(1)
4x + 3y = 162.....(2)

work ur way from there. u'll get x=18 n y=30.
happy counting! =)
