Created Nazism, whence came the skinheads, whence came the racial violence, whence came the curbings and being shouted ni99er at by said skinheads. There is neo Nazism in America today. That's what he did to me personally, yet indirectly.
There are still surviving holocaust victims, and I'm not above an insensitive joke, but it's going to take a hell of a lot more time than this to laugh off Hitler.
What did Saddam ever do to you? What did Bin Laden ever do to you? I suppose it's difficult to find people Hitler ever actually did anything to, because the ones he did do anything to are all charred and gased corpses. Hitler sold you candles that were made of wax, that came from oil, that was melted down from the fat of slaughtered Jewish children. Hitler also killed off Franz Kafka's family. Perhaps if Hitler had caused you to suffer and perish in a hellish, Godless nightmare, you might not be asking such an asanine question.
Damn, we still remember the Alamo! Why the hell don't we remember the holocaust!

He set a precedent and proved that mass hypnotic control of a population was possible, a lesson our own republic's leaders have capitalised upon in recent history.
Use a shocking event to terrify the people, then use that opportunity to strengthen government power. Start a war and then demonize the pacifists in the name of patriotism. Gradually twist the morals and ethics of a people until they can endure themselves being spied upon, that criminals be tortured, that people can be imprisoned at the will of the Party, to sacrifice their children for imperialist conquest, you can even make them accept genocide..."Who would think "our" benevolent government could do such a thing?" so asks a German in 1945.
The lesson Hitler taught to future leaders is that people who remain ignorant of the mechanics of how he came to power will be easily manipulated through propoganda into allowing it to happen again. For this, he has scarred the once greatest nation on Earth.

To me personally... nothing.... to relatives... plenty. Killed great-great granparents, killed great-great aunts and uncles... imprisioned others... because they were Catholics who protested his ways. Bastard. He was a coward who took the coward's road of suicide when the Allies were about to capture him.
