I would say that the two-party system is certainly on the way to becoming obsolete. You have two extremes on everything. What is needed is a centrist/moderate party that could have a stand that is more moderate.

There should be at least 10 different parties - and always a coalition government - so that when they don't do good job, let the chip falls and call for another election. I hope we the Americans, become more educated and intellectual and understand politics - instead of voting either Republican and Democrats. Ban FOX and Stop listening Rush Limbugh, Sean Hannity and Howie Carr (he has no class - atleast the other guys do), send Ann Coulter to Abu Gharib. Oh also send Bill O'riley to the forefront of Haditha, Iraq for USA.

In a nation as diverse as the US, breaking the two-party system has its merits and limitations, the obvious being giving people more choices but also allowing unqualified parties to be established whom's interests are not in the people.
