Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... if I was a man.. I honestly think that I WOULD want her to go back to her maiden name, unless there were children.

If I was a guy, then YES i would want her to go back to her maiden name. Regardless of whether or not there were children. Like Susan on Neighbours. She went back to her name even though her and Carl had kids, cos she thought of it as making a fresh start for herself and didn't want her married surname following her around in her new found "single life" after her divorce.

If they are getting divorced it must be for a good reason, any self-respecting woman would want to ditch that married name and go back to their maiden name. Better still, ditch the stupid tradition of taking the person's name and keep your own name, even after marriage you are still an individual!!!!

I wouldn't care one way or another. Its her life, and her choice. I look at life with no regrets. If someday I were to go thru that, I would not look back on the years spent together as a waste of life. I would appreciate the wonderful moments spent and never forget her, even after things turn sour and bitter later.

When you offer your name to a woman that offer is for life.

I would say unless you share children. Then she can maintain your last name.
Although, my mom was married to a guy for 7 yrs. and when they divorced she kept his last name.
So to each their own.
