ya..it has importance...
today world is a repid or speedy world.
so computer is one thing that can do a lot of work with a small time.
Just think if I answer ur question via a postcard then in how much time u will get my replay (it may be 3-4 days or more) but using internet I send the answer to u less then one minute.

In each field it has different importance:
In Education we use computer for searching different topics through web, for our assignments.
In communication we can use pc to talk to long distances through chats, voice chats, which is really very helpful n cheap. also we can send msgs to any part of the world through mail in few seconds.
In entertainment we can search about new n latest movies, gossips, songs n alot through internet in no time, n always be in touch with latest news.
In Science n Research u can find the latest technologies news, current updates,latest researches through different websites.
so in this way computer or u can say internet is really very very useful in all the fields of life.
