The Older generation think that they still write songs like "Just Can't get enough" and haven't listened to anything since then. Other people think they are too morbid ala "Black Clelebration" and the youth today can't identify themselves with them. They are still a great band who are underated by the general public, but try as I might I cannot get any of my friends to listen to them

Musicalle because nobody understood synthesisers in the early 80's, hence Kraftwerk = German. That's why DM were more popular in Germany than anywhere else. Then rest of Europe and then maybe received small following in UK.
They are underrated for the same reason why Britain is so against Europe. Backward thinking.

It could be because they have been around for SOOO long. They were popular when I was in HS (85-89ish). I am not sure what they are doing to broaden their image/audience.

They may need to do with INXS did and do the whole we need a guitar player or singer etc audition.

We liked them when they were good (i.e. they had Vince Clarke and wrote proper pop songs). We lost interest when they decided they were going to become turgid gloomhounds and Dave Gahan looked less likely to survive the millenium than Shane Mc Gowan.

they have been around for ages, but i think they are brilliant, and there music has changed over the years, they have always brought out wicked dance versions of their songs too, which i think is brilliant, and i love they way they keep to themselves and arent bleeting on about causes and political issues, and pictured in gossip magazines...

because their music is so dreary and miserable. If they went back to their roots i would probably listen to them again.
