on the yahoo home page 'search the web' bar, i'd like to know how to clear the searches out?

If using IE:
go to Tools->Internet options...
click the Content tab
click the "autocomplete" button
click "clear forms"
WARNING: THIS WILL CLEAR ALL SAVED FORM DATA

in Firefox:
Tools->options
click the privacy tab
select the "saved forms" subtab
click the clear button
same warning applies as IE. this will clear all saved form data

hmm... i believe if you highlite the word in the drop down menu and press delete, it will get rid of it... otherwise, weberaser works really good at clearing out any file related to internet explorer.. cookies, history, temp files and whatnot
