On last week of april 2006 a girl hit the back of my car and she gave me all her information including dl, address, cell # but she did not want to report it to her insurance. She told me that she would just pay to fix my car at the shop. I went on vacation on may and just got back. I called her and told her that i went to the shop and told her the estimate of the damage but she never return my call. What steps should I do? Do i still have the right to go after her?

i think you're still in a good time frame. Depending on your insurance, they should take care of it for you. If she doesn't return your calls, call your ins. company and tell them what happened. Give them all of her info and they should handle it. insurance companies don't like you doing anything without them.... so I'm guessing they'll be happy to "help". good luck :)

and, if by chance HER insurance calls you, do not answer any questions... tell them you will call back. then call YOUR insurance and ask them what you need to do. Insurance companies have an uncanny ability to back you into saying something that will put the blame on you - and they record their conversations, so don't say anything except "i'll get back to you". :)

and another tip.. do not call the cops. i have a friend who is a cop. there is nothing they can do about this after the fact! and take it as a lesson that next time, you should call the cops right away, because afterwards, there's not a thing they can do for you. and also don't go to her address to claim your money... that's stalker-ish and scary. :) hope you get your money back ;)

Here's what I would do.

Get two or three estimates and if you have her address mail copies of them to her. Call her and tell her the cost and that you want an answer on this within a week or the insurance companies will become involved. If she doesn't reply then sick your insurance company on her.
