^ ? ^ yes, there are many people like that. i never really cared for people that take themselves so seriously, and are so narcissistic, that they assume the most innocuous statements are insults about themselves. however, it could be a simple matter of low self esteem that a person would even assume that a general statement made is an insult directed toward them. i guess it boosts their already overinflated sense of self worth to think that people would deem them important enough to even insult them.

I agree with the first answer , is it possible that you might just supply the insults (not vocally mind you) when in fact the person is subtly trying to get you to pay them a compliment ? Or did you mean people who's attitude and personality aren't socially favorable to the point were it appears they intentionally try to get on others nerves and there upon forcing insults? In which case I think these people crave attention and don't care whether its positive or negative as long as your noticing them .

There are a lot of low-cast bored people who have nothing better to do than to tear down or hurt other people. It makes them have a false sense of power and one-up-manship on others.
People that do not feel they have to answer for their wrongs are going to do a lot until they come face to face with someone that judges them for their crimes against others.

I find more people that "fish" for good comments than people who fish for insults..
