I am 39 weeks and 80% effaced - 2cm dilated. I got my membranes stripped or swept today like seven hours ago. It cramped after but over time I started feeling these pains. They arnt really intense yet or anything... but it like starts in my back and moves all over my stomach ( tighting ) and like my whole stomach gets hard. It lasts about a minute or so, definitely getting stronger over time. Is this a contraction... how long do you think it will take before they will hurt pretty bad? Please help me out.

yeh thats a contraction for sure, because u had ur membranes stripped you should start timing the contractions, how long they go for and how long between each, when they last for 60seconds,Once your contractions are five minutes apart, or if you no longer feel comfortable being at home, go to the hospital. and remeber if they do start to get bad Resist any urge to push until your cervix is fully dilated.
The pressure of your baby's head helps to widen your cervix, so use gravity and walk around, stand or sit upright.

In the days or perhaps weeks earlier than hard work, Braxton Hicks contractions might intermittently grow to be rhythmic, fairly near in combination, or even painful, potentially fooling you into pondering you are in hard work Call your caregiver instantly if you have not reached 37 weeks and your contractions are fitting extra widespread, rhythmic, or painful, or you probably have any of those feasible indicators of preterm hard work: • Abdominal anguish, menstrual-like cramping, or greater than 4 contractions in an hour (even though they do not harm) • Any vaginal bleeding or recognizing • An expand in vaginal discharge or a difference within the sort of discharge — if it turns into watery, mucusy, or bloody (even though it is only purple or blood-tinged) • Increased pelvic strain (a sense that your child's pushing down) • Low again anguish, mainly if it is a new main issue for you If you are beyond 37 weeks, there is not any ought to name your healthcare professional or midwife only for contractions till they final approximately 60 seconds every and are 5 mins aside — except your caregiver has informed you in any other case

well, it sounds like contractions to me, but you must time them. write everything down. how long they last, the time they start & stop (have a watch close by) someone to help with this project is ideal since you lose track of time when you are in labor. but i don't think you really have enything to worry about until the contractions are about 5 minutes apart. exceptions to this are if you are more than a half hour away from the hospital, or if your water breaks. and if it does break, you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible! as far as when you get to the hospital, one thing that really helped me while i was waiting for my nice pain shot (knowing how much it helped me i would never go without one of them unless you are into pain) what really helped me was a bath. it just helped to relax me for that approx. half hour while waiting for the guy to show up with the shot. and boy did i have bad pain after i got out of that relaxing bath.
anyways, good luck, hope all goes well.
