Hello

I recently went to a medical lab and they drew some blood from me for some tests. The thing that is worrying me is that I wasnt paying attention to the nurse when she got the needle so I dont know if she used a new or reused an old needle by mistake/

My question is, can these needles be reused or are they designed for one time use only?? I am afraid of contracting any blood disease from this incident

The lab I went to was proffesionol and expensive (not a back ally lab) and I am sure they wont use the same needle on purpose. My fear is that by mistake, they might have used the same one used on a patient before

They like ALL needles used now a days are disposable one use needles.

It's VERY unlikly they would reuse one by accident unless the person was VERY VERY new.

They are required to dispose of neddles and people get into the habbit of doing so.... even when they have to draw blood a few times from the same person and know it i've seen them accidently throw away the needle and have to get a new one.

Hi,
Iam bernard from India .
re using the needle is the main cause of transmitting various diseas some harm ful diseas are HiV (Aids),hepatitus etc so you have to be very care ful when you go to a doctor especially pepole living in African countries and reote areas in india

Even in some places i had seen children playing with the hospital waste materials wich are not dispossed properly

I have studied reegarding thi and designed a product called syringe destroyer.the cost of this product is Rs 999 in USD it comes arround $25

this products burns the needle and can cut the knob of the syringe
so there is no way the syrige or the needle can be reused

as this is a serios issue regarding public im giving my phone number those who wanted this product in india can contact me

It is illegal for any company to use or i should say reuse needles...next time...if you did not seee them open the package in front of you, you have the right to ask them to get another needle, i don't think that they would have reused a needle!!!

They're supposed to be disposed of in a special container after being used. She should have opened a new package and gotten a new needle for you.

Today they make the needles disposable so that you cannot reuse them.

If you have ANY concerns I would suggest that you contact the medical provider who referred you for the test as well as the lab that did the draw. Find out their procedures and explain your concerns.

Needles, almost anywhere in the world, are not meant to be re-used. but another thing they don't tell you is that re-using needles will not necessarily kill you. i live in a 3rd world country and over here my mom re-uses needles alott because you can't get them here. and were all healthy. don't stress yourself!
