Recanalization would be if her body reversed the surgery by itself. It can happen, or you can have microsurgery to fix the tubes. How likely the first one is or how successful the second one is likely to be depends on a number of factors--how the surgery was done, how skilled the surgeon, and how long ago it was.

Out of 200 women who have had a tubal ligation who are having sex for 1 year, 1 of them will probably get pregnant.

If she does have a reversal (spontaneous or surgical), she will be at increased risk of having a tubal pregnancy. She should talk to a doctor if she *ever* thinks she may be pregnant A tubal pregnancy can be treated if caught early, but if not detected, it can become life-threatening.

My wife got pregnant a 5th time even though she had a tubal. So it can happen naturally with micro surgery. (Just so you'll know...she miscarried as it was an etoptic pregnancy.) in any case she wound up having to have the tubes removed. because of the etoptic.
