Physical therapy should help - but how are they treating it? There are many different approaches to this type of injury. Has the PT tried different techniques/modalities? Are you seeing functional improvement (able to sit/drive/read longer without pain) even though the pain is still there? Talk with all your medical professionals about what you can do that is different. If they can't help, maybe try to seek out a physical therapist that is an OCS (Orthopedic Clinical Specialist) or has certifications in manual therapy.

Treatment should help. If you are constantly going through treatment that doesn't help then you are just wasting money. As a PT, if a patient does not show positive improvement in the first 2 weeks, I reassess their need to continue treatment and explore other treatment options. If they still do not show signs of improvement, then I refer the patient back to the doctor or refer to a specialist. If the doctor is your primary care, I would recommend seeing an orthopedic physician (BTW, did you have an XRay and MRI?).

Also, before using the term "Fibromyalgia" were you actually tested for it, or was it just a diagnosis someone threw out as a possibility. It is a condition that has become a catch-all for people with chronic pain, but it may have nothing to do with your problem.

Get a personal injury attorney and an MRI. I was injured on the job in Sept. 2002 and suffered three crushed discs (C-5,6,7). I was mobile for about a week until the pinching affected my ability to grasp and had shooting pains down my legs. An MRI revealed a lot that could not be seen with x-rays and the type of injury was aggravated by physical therapy and chiropractic manipulation. Don't take no as an answer from the insurance companies.

Tell a personal injury attorney what has happened to you. There is a statute of limitations on filing a complaint in some cases. Someone who is not affiliated with your employer (previous employer) should be able to help you seek damages.
