i'm using an external drive with my mac. i just recently added some pictures to the external via a PC but my mac won't recognize that i added them when i open the folder.

Make sure your hard drive is formatted with the FAT-32 system. Check the file name. If it begins with a period, it will be hidden.

Also, check to see what type of extension the image has. Mac OS X is tought to ignore some file types, mainly for it's HFS formatting. I can't think of any case in which this would happen, but it's worth a shot. Open Terminal and type:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall Finder

That will show all of the hidden files. If your image appears here, you may have to go back to your PC and resave them to a standard format

Just retype the stuff in the Terminal, except put FALSE instead of TRUE

unplug the drive and plug it back in...

throw it away and get a real computer.
