I know people travel through America to several different cities, but it's never referred to as "backpacking". Why?

I think it's because America is not as conducive to actual backpacking...we don't really have the hostels and things like Europe has, so people who travel America generally end up going with a suitcase and staying in hotels. It's just a lifestyle difference, I think. Europe has backpacking and we have the roadtrip.

I am doing exactly that. i m single so i am careful but I love backpacking,cant really afford europe right now but i love america.travelling is fun,the ppl at certain places are a little rude.great experience though.

people just make a big deal about europe cause they think its fancy, but its not, it smells like pee
