I have several aquariums with a wide variety in each - the one type of food that I can give to all of them are frozen bloodworms. Every fish I have ever had - even the most picky and most delicate and most hardy ones - all like them.

You can get frozen bloodworms at Petco or Petsmart. Get the ones that are frozen in little cubes rather than a massive block - its easier to just break a single cube out of the packet, thaw it out in some tank water ,then throw it in the tank.

I usually only give my fish bloodworms about once a week, though. The rest of the time, it's flake food or pellets or crumbles that are specific for each type of fish I have.

In my experience, you won't harm a fish by giving it the wrong type of food - they just won't eat it which could be disastrous in the long run. But after you feed them, just watch to make sure everyone is eating well.

A varied diet - no matter what it is - is the most important thing though.

fish pellets, flakes, tube effex worms they come in little cubes, you can buy them at walmart, just make sure you look at the back as some fish can only eat certain types of foods.. if you have saltwater fish you might consider brine shrimp... theres also live shrimp for freshwater fish.. but they can be more expensive
