First of all What do you mean by Modern Philosophy? The idea of Modern Philosophy is Euro-centric, for example, Cartesian Philosophy is called modern Philosophy. Such categories are not applicable to Indian Philosophy, there is nothing like old philosophy, new philosophy, outdated philosophy etc to Indian ways of thinking and doing. This is because Indian Philosophy is not at the periphery, it is very deep, and not fleeting.
We in India rate a philosopher through any by his Originality. In the real sense of the term, the last Indian Original Philosopher was Rishi Aurabindo, Who passed away less than a hundred years ago.But if you mean interpreters of Philosophy, there are are many. They are so many, that you have to spell out your specific area of interest to reach them and then choose to pick what you look for.
One thing more.
Philosophy of the East is essentially Indian Philosophy, and Hindu Philosophy. Do not give the very general term, Asian Philosophy.

Radharikrishnan is still tremendous.
"It is not God that is worshipped but the group or authority that claims to speak in His name. Sin becomes disobedience to authority not violation of integrity."

Also Wing Tsit-Chan's "Sourcebook on Chinese Philosophy" is unparallelled. The translation of Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu, Confucius, Mo Tzu, Chan writers.. even Mao are all unembellished and clear. I Highly recommend it.

Haruki Murakami. He's a best-selling author in Japan, and his writings are very philosophical, and quite twisted in their own way. Yum.
