I don't want the medical studies from the United States Government, I already know it is bogus. So, for further depth, I want to know why we in the United States are not allowed to smoke Marijuana, when it's obvious, that the other legal drugs in this country (tobacco and alcohol) are proven to take millions of lives every year. If and when there is not viable proof that marijuana takes more lives.

Driving under the infuence of marijuana doesn't cause the accidents, not paying attention does. I know from experience, have driven months on end while stoned out of my gourd.

I've been clean for a few months now, and I am still an advocate, I never thought irrashionally while under it's influence. I believe that perhaps exploring certain issues may have been hindered, but I never beleived anything I said that sounded crazy.

I have never, never seen a marijuana overdose come into an ER I have worked. Alcohol and tobacco are a major reason I have a job........................But they are taxed aren't they? Either stop all alcohol and tobacco or legalize marijuana. Tax marijuana sales and put the money towards medicare and ethanol production. That may take a chunk out of oil profits and we can have that?

Although a mild tolerance of the drug can be built up, it is generally understood not to be physically addictive. As with any substance however, some can build up a psychological dependence. There is some evidence linking long-term use to depression as well as aggravation of pre-existing mental conditions, although the cause and effect relationship between depression and substance abuse isn't fully understood.

The long-term effects of cannabis still need more study. One of the most important and widely shared concerns regarding cannabis is that its high tar content (especially when it is combined with tobacco, as is common in Europe) could lead to an increased risk of lung cancer. Pipes using water filtration, called bongs are often believed to reduce lung damage by filtering out a portion of the smoke's tar, and lowering the temperature of the smoke.

It sounds like you want a No and really don't care what anyone says.

It does cause psychological dependence, depression, and Paranoia. I watched guys in Nam use it and they were some pretty weird characters, and paranoid as hell!

It is probably safer than alcohol.

so far, there is no emperical data to support the claim that marijuana is harmful to the mind or body. if you didn't mean physical health but actions against others, just stay home and toke up (there are some case files in the legal circuit that detail marijuana's potential damage to others via means of transportation).

the reason it is not legal in 49 states is that they still consider it to be a threat. Oregon, to the last of my knowledge, is the only state in the union that has legalized MJ.

Marijuana is better and less harmful ....than alcohol!!! Go figure...alcohol is legal and not marijuana????

People think that it's this horrible drug, and could harm so many people...but really ...those people who think that should ask themselves what alcohol does, and the statistics to support alcohol fatalities, & incidents compared to stats that report the same findings except with Marijuana users behind the wheel

We know smoking and alcohol are drugs but two wrongs don't make a right,if pot is legalized it opens a can of worms for many other drugs to become legal, lets stop now and leave it with the two we have. .

Booze is bad for you physically and slows down your thought processes. Pot makes you think crazy thoughts. It's deceptive, because at the time you think those crazy thoughts, you believe they are perfectly rational and insightful. After years of not smoking pot, I remember back to the things I thought, said, and did under the influence of pot and I say "Man, that was crazy!" The strongest drug I take now is green tea. Age 57.

actually i have heard that when it is taken in the right way it acts like a medicine. before using it you should consult a person who can help. i know a friend who's grandfather used to take marijuana as medicine. that does'nt harm if taken in a right way. so first ask someone who knows about how to use it.

its because the government cannot tax it, because everyone can grow it.....so if they cant make money off it, its illegal....and no there is no proof that it really harms anybody and actually, if they do decide to legalize it, phillip morris (marlboro), already has first dibs on producing it commercially
