I'm half-black, half-white, and I prefer to be called biracial.
You say Mulatto isn't offensive, but actually, it can be to some people, so it's best if it's not used.
I also know that I've been called an Oreo before. It doesn't offend me too much, it is kind of true (and I like oreos), but I know some people find it offensive, so only use it if you know the person wouldn't mind.
Also, I do not look black, contrary to what people are saying. We are not black, we are not white. We do not look black, either, to an observant person. Please, just say biracial, and you should satisfy everyone.

That depends on who you ask. Many people still believe if someone has a drop of black blood in them they are black, no matter what the skin color.
Although I know what Mulato is, people do call others that. Sounds like something you buy at Starbucks. I'd like a venti iced mulato with dingleberries please.
Some say mixed, but that says very little. Mixed what? Pea's and carrots? It's too generic. Aren't German Irish Polish Hungarian people also mixed?
Just call them black and be done with it. Many whites will never accept them as one of them anyways, and blacks will.

Oldguy has a point, 'cause the Black genes are stronger, and bi-racial children of one Black parent will still look Black.
They are called Mulatto or bi-racial. Btw, mixed families are beautiful.
P.S. To the person below: In Spanish, "mulato" is not an offensive term, and it still used with no shame, no offense.

I don't think it matters what race a person is called. It is beautiful when people of different color or ethnic heritage reproduce. The mix of traits that would otherwise not mingle is just beautiful and exotic.

A Mulatto, or that was the term coined for off springs of blacks and whites in the Us in the 1800's. (No offense intended, just sharing knowledge)
