I have to go to a lot of doctors from different nationalities all the time at the VA. It can be very difficult and frustrating sometimes. Most of them are nice enough and I do appreciate their efforts. Sometimes I do feel like they don't really hear what I'm saying. Most of the time I can understand their English. But not always.

Yes - I've had several doctors that were of a different nationality. Mostly, they have been Middle-Eastern. My regular doctor is Indian, but born in Australia. I love him and his English is perfect. I have had bad experiences though with a guy from Pakistan. I had the flu really bad and he treated me like I was faking! I could barely stand up! No, I NEVER went back to him, but like I said, I've had both good and bad experiences.

Yes. Yes and I felt disoriented. I never went back because I didn't trust him. I told him I didn't understand and he acted like he didn't have time to explain it to me. I told him it was his accent that was the problem, not the conditions complicated explaination. He just sort of snorted and left it to his nurse.

Whats bad is, he made me think I had colon cancer! I had to go to another doctor to find out I didn't.

I have that very same problem! My Pain mgt. Dr. is from china and I can't follow what she is saying at all. I have continued to see her but admit that it has bothered me. For one I feel she is a very good Dr. but the language barrior has been both frustrating as well as ackward. I mean there are only so many times you can say, pardon??
