Division by 0 is undefined.

If you divide 4 by 2, you get 2. Reverse the process: 2 multiplied by 2 gives you 4.

The reason you can't divide by 0 is because you can't multiply 0 by any other number and get a number besides 0.

4 divided by 0 gives you "undefined." That would mean that "undefined" times 0 should equal 4. But that's silly.

Division by zero is undefined... so nothing happens...
Analytically, examine f(x) = 1/x. Division by zero would be
lim_{x -> 0} f(x). If x -> 0+ then the limit is positive infinity, but if x -> 0- then the limit is negative infinity. Even answering that division by zero is "infinity" is not quite right. It could be positive infinity or negative infinity depending upon whether or not the numberator is positive or negative, and which way zero is approaches.

Quick algebraic proof of why division by zero is undefined:
Division is multiplication by a reciprocal. By definition the reciprocal of a number x is a number y such that x*y = y*x = 1.
If zero had a reciprocal then there would be a number z such that 0*z = z*0 = 1 but we know that 0*z = 0 for any number z. That would imply that 1 = 0, but this is a contradiction! Thus zero has no reciprocal meaning that you cannot divide by zero.

(This proof works in a much more abstract framework than merely in the real numbers... )

branch by ability of 0 is undefined... so no longer something takes place... Analytically, study f(x) = a million/x. branch by ability of 0 could be lim_{x -> 0} f(x). If x -> 0+ then the decrease is beneficial infinity, yet while x -> 0- then the decrease is destructive infinity. Even answering that branch by ability of 0 is "infinity" isn't fairly stunning. it would desire to be useful infinity or destructive infinity based upon whether or no longer the numberator is beneficial or destructive, and which way 0 is procedures. rapid algebraic information of why branch by ability of 0 is undefined: branch is multiplication by ability of a reciprocal. by ability of definition the reciprocal of a quantity x is a quantity y such that x*y = y*x = a million. If 0 had a reciprocal then there could be a quantity z such that 0*z = z*0 = a million yet all of us be responsive to that 0*z = 0 for any quantity z. that could advise that a million = 0, yet this could be a contradiction! as a effect 0 has no reciprocal meaning which you won't be able to divide by ability of 0. (This information works in a much extra precis framework than in easy terms interior the actual numbers... )

All hell break loose. Anarchy and peace are the same. Male and female are the same. A dollar and 100 dollar is the same. etc. You may expand the list to infinity or you may even not do the list, or you may even not do the list because making the list is the same as not making the list.

If we have the license to do it, we can pretty well do anything.

x/z = 1 so x = z

y/z = 1 so y = z

Our license to anarchy, we are permitted to have z = 0, then:

From 1st equation if x = 3, 3 = 0

From 2nd equation if y = 5, 5 = 0.

So 3 = 0 = 5.

Making a list:

Anarchy = peace

red = blue

Me = you

Infinity

undefined because of the multiplicative property of 0. to check division we use multiplication and this is why any number divided by 0 is undefine.

It is undefined.
Consider the graph of y = 1/x
See how the graph looks near zero.
If you're on the left of zero, then the graph goes to negative infinity.
If you're on the right side of zero, then the graph goes to positive infinity.

if 'a' is a number,
a/0 is not defined if 'a' is not zero.
0/0 is not determined.
