I just got promoted into my first managment position in a very fast paced, high stress job. Do you have any tips for effectively managing my time? I seem to be forgetting minor details and tasks.

I did some research as I became a manager years ago. It seems that the biggest mistake new managers make (and I did it too) is to act as if they will direct other as to how to do thier job.
Actually it is the worker that is the expert on thier job. As a manager you should be the one who askes the question "What would make your job easier, better, more efficent, etc." then go about helping remove the problems they tell you about.
If you do this as your main focus, you will be respected, seen as a team player, and find your own job is fullfilling and a whole lot less stressful.
Good luck!

My first management job was McDonalds now I am manager at Albertson's both fast paced and stress full the best feed back that I always get from my employee's is that they like a boss that don't have a hot head. Be a team not a leader. Don't be to nice but not mean at the same time. you will eventually find a balance. Being a manager for me came after a few weeks of the position not right away you gotta get a routine down and you'll be fine. Just remember to stay calm that is always the best advice I got from my fellow managers. Anyhow looked something up for you check out this web site:))

no boss is a great boss....no matter what you do, your staff will never appreciate you or think that you're a great boss. my advice to you is not to pretend to be a great boss but to really understand your work and do it well. then you will received the respect of your staff. to manage time, you have to plan or schedule yourself. planning is important and it will definitely keep you in toes with all minor details or tasks.

be a list maker!!!

assign tasks to those under you- a good supervisor DELEGATES!

frequently check the progress of the people who have been assigned tasks- to ensure their completion...

most imporantly- you are not there to be friends with your employees- you are there to lead them in their jobs... keep your distance from them socially!!
