In real life things take continuous set of values.
Say you want to measure a length of cloth .You can measure 0.9,0.99 metres ,0.9999 metres and so on to an arbitrary degree of closeness to 1 but not exactly equal to one provided you have a meter scale calibrated to that degree.
Not only that you can measure any value you want between 0 to 1 metres .
Similarly when you measure volume you can measure 1 litres,1.01 litres ,1.0001 litres and so on as if you can have a volume corresponding every point on the number line.
However with quantisation all this ends.Things can take discrete values only and increse in steps only.If I define quantum length as 0.1 metres you can only have multiples of that and not any value.i,e you can have 0.1,0.2,0.3 and so on but no value in between 0.1 and 0.2
no value between 0.2 and 0.3
say 0.15 will be invalid.
This thing is called quantisation and things like 0.1 is called a quanta.Things can take only multiple values of a quanta.

Quantization is the method of limiting something to a discrete set of values, such as an integer or natural numbers, rather than continuous values, such as a rational number or real number. For example , if quantization is used in describing a crowd of people in a park.According to its definition we will say there are 90 men or 56 men and not 67.8 men or 72.9 men.The later statement is against the method.In Physical Sciences this is a sweeping statement of the method for constructing quantum mechanics from classical mechanics. This method is a fundamental point to understand various branches of physics.Mainly it is used in particle physics and quantum optics.
At the time of Benjamin Franklin even electric charge was thought to be a continuous fluid which was essential to desribe many phenomenons.Today, it is proved that fluid themselves are quantized, that means it consist of definite and discrete atoms and molecules, say 78,900 atoms of oxygen.We cannot say oxygen is continuous say 78,900.99 atoms. Experiments show electric fluid has no existence and it is a bogus thought.Rather it consist of quantized elementary charges.

q=ne,
where n=any integer e=1.6*10^(-19)
This is the formula which shows charges are quantized.That means there are certain number of electrons and not any continuous number.'n' cannot be a fraction.However, particle physics have shown existence of quarks.

Quantinisation Refers to a basic pattern of Energy transformation In Modern Physics. During the Early Years the Wave form of Light had a wide accepatance but after the discovery of Photoelectric effect it was not possible for the scientists to apply the theory in that case. It was Max Plank in the late 1800s who gave the quantum theory of Radiation. he suggested that Light has a particle nature and is in the form of packets of energy having a discrete wavelength and each packet has a specific amount of energy. It is just as a numer of electrons travelling thru a wire. The total energy content is due to all the quanta of light together.

Quantization is the procedure of constraining something to a discrete set of values, such as an integer, rather than a continuous set of values, such as a real number.
