Certainly they do not want to be a gay neither lesbian. They just want to be straight. But the desire just come away. No one knows it, God only knows it.
There are many factors that affect it.
Yes, they can become straight and raise a family. Just go deeply into your own self and forgive your self & try not to blame your own self. Keep on praying, God will open the way.

the current scientific thought on this is that its caused by a bio-psycho-social factors. The biological factor is genetic in nature although its not caused by anyone gene but many genes and how they interact with each other. This doesn't mean someone will be gay but that they are very likly to be. The psycho factor is how people learn about gender identity. Its a l"earned" behavior but if someones genes predispose them to be gay its by far easier for them to "learn" to be gay than straight. There is a certain age where this learning is possible, most think a very early age and once that age passes it is actually impossible to unlearn. Its similar to that teenage girl that was found locked in a basement who never had any contact with the outside world even though she was rescued she never learned langueage because she was past the age she was able to learn. Social factor has more to do with how an individual expresses (or hides) their homosexuality. The way society views gays as well as the religious beliefs of the individual effect how that person will live their life and who they will have sex with although social factors have no influence at all on who that person is physcially attracted to, only what they actually do or dont do with that person

Most often homosexuality is biological. However there are instances where external factors can influence a persons sexulity. For example I had a friend who was raped by her own brother and about 10 of his friends. The idea of ever being with a man scared the hell out of her. I don't know if she ever got past this, but I hope so because I know all men are not like that.
I treid very hard for a long time to live the life I was always told was "normal" and I was miserable doing so. I never wanted to be a lesbian, but I know that I am.
Many people that consider themselves recoverred homosexuals are actually just bisexual people who decided on the opposite sex. They were able to make that decision because they had (have) a choice. People who are not at all attracted to the opposite sex don't have that choice. if you are not getting turned on, you're just not getting turned on...what more can actually be done?

It can, in most usual ways, be a "born that way" situation, in my opinion. However, people can choose to become "that way" because of previous experiences which have turned them away from the opposite sex. (A woman is married to a man for many years, has children with him, but he's highly abusive. She meets a girl and chooses to divorce her husband to become the woman's partner, thus "making" herself a lesbian.)
Though there are many "ex-Gay" programs, studies have shown that going through such processes can cause more harm than good to that person. They've also found that many cannot "stop" the lifestyle with still having homosexual thoughts and feelings. Good as You ( http://www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/2006/06/uhm_hello_we_kn.html ) has many good quotes from leading people/associations who studied the "Ex-Gay" movement and its effects on people.

I believe deep in my heart that I was born a homosexual. However in just the past few months I have fall in love with a female. I have lost ALL homosexual desires. I use to think the female vagina was the most grossed thing out there. I did not think I could ever bring myself to pleasing a female. Hopefully in the future this will change.
I do not understand the change that I am going through. However I am very ready for anything.
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. ANYTHING.

Sexual orientation is determined before birth. People just don't turn straight or gay. There are and will always be gay people with families. Many men marry and have kids because they think that's what they have to do when in fact they are and always have been gay.

people don't choose to be gay, its NOT a statement they are making, its not to curse god or appear trendy or more European, they are born that way. Some people try to hid it and try to lead normal lives and people confuse this for it being a choice when in fact they are hiding their feelings. No one makes a choice to be the target of ridicule and hate.

ex gay programs are like cults, cmon now, why change your sexual being? Why can't people be happy with who they are? I don't get it, society really is aggressive when people don't follow suit. This goes for everything. Step out of the box and dare to be yourself. You can raise a family being gay. Why is this so dificult for people to understand?
