I've read it, but it's been a very long time.

The first, and most importan one is when the family is rounded up by the authorities and sent to a prison camp, just because of their ethnic background. Even though the kids were born in this country.

Another is when the father is arrested, and taken away for questioning out of the mistaken belief that all Japanese werre spies. That happened before the family had to go to the camp, so they ended up going alone.

Eventually, the father was released and sent to the camp. It is hinted that he was tortured, but he always refuses to talk about it.

There is a revolt or riot at one point, because of the s***y way they are being treated there.

Another major event is the disagreement between the father and his oldest son, who chooses to join the American Army and go fight in Europe to prove the family's loyalty to America.

When they are finally released, they learn that a lot of their possesions are gone forever, either confiscated by the American government, or stolen by people they thought were their friends who had agreed to hold those things "temporarily."

I don't know about "most" important events...I think the whole book is important.
