I have a few cousins who does that when they are young and i saw how their thumb skin went raw....due to long sucking and wet so the doctor gave my cousin a big bandage at his thumb ..
anyway my children tried but i stop them before they turn into a habit and they dun use pacifier either......

That's interesting. I don't know either. My 4 month old daughter found her left thumb about a month ago.. .Now she sucks it constantly. My son however was never interested. I've heard it said that some babies just like to suck. I have to say that for me it's nice though. She sleeps through the night because she puts herself back to sleep by sucking her thumb.

I guess it's just something that we may never know, my son doesn't suck his thumb thank god put he did have a dummy (paci) until he was one!!

predetermined at conception or genetics maybe? I don't know...I'm just guessing!!

its a reflex...my baby does it to show me that she's hungry...
