i doubt that you will find scientific research on the topic you will find sociological research which is a little different. You can look into sociological journals or articles.

just be yourself and treat other the same way you want to be treated. unless you are going to the country, then you need to check their tourism information, so you can get familiarize with their customs, tradition, belief, religion, so you won't embarrass yourself or other as well.

but if you are interested in knowing others, be honest what is your intention and ask them yourself. what is the best way to get information other than the source itself, right?
