I treated my fish for Ick like directions said.
They didnt get better so I did 1/3 water change as directed and treated new water.
Even tried some Melafix to treat them.
The fish are dropping dead though.
Should I risk it and change all the water or should I Change ENTIRE filter ( yes I have the charcoal out now)
What should I do, they look terrible!
Any Ideas ( no flushing them )

Try another week of treatment, if it's hope less, I got a good website for you.
Start at the bottom of the page, the last ones are the most humane.
I don't recommend, the electrocution method.

If the ick meds aren't working I would try salt. 1 teaspoon per gallon, 3 times and raise the temp a few degrees. So say your tank is 20 gallons then you would use 20 teaspoons of salt, mix it a cup of fish tank water then pour into tank and do it 3 times 12 hours apart. Before you try the salt though do water changes to get all the old meds out of the tank. And remember it will always get worse before it gets better and can take a week or 2 so dont give up.

How many fish do you have in your tank. It should be no more than 1/2 inch per gallon to be safe. It could be a build up of Nitrates and that cannot be filtered out with charcoal. You could try a Diatom filter, but try having less fish as this is probably going to be a fact anyway.

Make sure that they are dying from ick. I've never had a fish die from it. If you are changing water, make sure you are treating the new water or using distilled (not drinking, tap, or spring water). I'd check the water balance before I did anything. Check nitrate levels especially. Good luck.

Oh my goodness! That sounds fairly undesirable. Is he bodily abusive to boot, if he's, honey, you want to get out NOW! once you've nowhere to bypass, then contact a guard for battered women individuals. If he's not bodily abusive, then i ought to nevertheless reccommend that you get out quickly, because emotional abuse should be even worse that actual in a sense of your self properly worth....and has an enduring impression on someone, yet a minimum of it isn't as urgent. you are able to bide some time and plan ahead. both way, you fairly want to seek counseling for your self, and if he's prepared, for him too. I understand 8 years is a lengthy time period, yet now and again you need to study the thanks to offer up and enable bypass. Its very admirable that you do not wanna supply up, even with the undeniable fact that it takes 2 to make a courting artwork, and if he's unwilling to do his area, then no matter how perplexing you're trying, its no longer gonna artwork. You cant make someone replace. they ought to wish to regulate themself. The previous conserving, "you not in any respect comprehend what you got 'til its lengthy previous," is soo authentic! If he feels threatened that he ought to lose you, then he ought to replace, yet even if he does it for good, or briefly is something it truly is mandatory to think about in case you go away and picture about going back. you've been with him for 8 years and doubtless comprehend him more suitable desirable than all people else, so that you'll want to make that call at the same time as that element comes, yet save in thoughts the question of...ought to you fairly wanna bypass back to that? in straightforward words you comprehend the way far he's prepared to bypass and if he fairly loves you.

Put in aquarium salt (by aquarium Phamacuticals) it says one tablespoon per gallon. I would double it (I have safely put 1 cup per ten gallons) The white spots of Ich are cysts and are no prob. The larva are what do the damage but they cannot live in saline conditions. you can also do a salt water dip, but this is a little more risky if you are unsure of what you are doing

if your tank is overcrowded, yes, your fish are going to suffer from ICK. go to your local pet store and ask for a specific medicine to put in the tank that treats that parasite specifically. ($3 - $6) look closely at your fish ~ they may not be suffering from ick, it may be something else.
