Religion, well, that's a touchy subject. Was it invented by man, or by God, or both? Religion is real, because society has made it real. Political leaders have had great control over the religions of their countries in the past, this is true. But the religion of a man's heart, is only truly known to himself and his God. Otherwise no-one can know it. Religion is a way of defining our society, to incorporate ideas, and to break tension between difficulties we share, ironically it can also be used in the opposite way by seperating ourselves from people (sometimes even killing them) who do not believe the same way we do, and to build tension against anyone who tries to convey differing ideas than the one's we possess.
There are many different religions around the world, most of which only have one thing in common: "The need to believe in something."
Even Atheists must believe that there is no supreme being.
Agnostics must believe in their percieved truth that there is nothing other than life itself.
Christians must believe in the life-changing savior Jesus.
Wiccans must believe in The Ultimate Conciousness, The One, or the All, the same as which is known to Freemasons as The Great Architect of the Universe.
Native Americans must believe in the Great Spirit.
Buddhists must believe in the ultimate Enlightment.
The only thing we all share, is simple: Belief. But our beliefs are different. "The Flowers in the field are beautiful and colorful. Does the red flower say to the purple one, 'you are different from me, get away.'? No, they lay together peacefully."
(Spell check is down. So please don't attack me, for any mis-spelings.)

If there is Prove it
\Not by a book written by men a hundred yrs after the so called facts.
have 60 people sit in a circle whisper a sentence in one of the persons ears let him whisper it to the next and then to the next and so on by the time it gets back to you the story will have changed same as a men telling a tail that happened over a hundred yrs ago.
Now a days all the stories mystery's can be explained
Why with the Catholic church having so much money why do you never hear of them helping after a disaster
They help out bad priest but never help out after a natural
disaster you just never hear of them
They are there just to take your money have you ever heard of the church giving money?

of course there is such a thing as religion. You may not agree with a specific belief i.e. religion but that does not stop it from existing. Yes some bad things have been done in the name of religion but it was the people who were bad not necessarily the religion.

we has seen that religion has always been used politically . the reason behind this is that the masses following a paticular religion have forgotten basic reason for the formation of religion .No God in any religion has said that the followers have got the right to kill or destroy those whom do not follow that religon . All these were written by humans who were inhuman and todays politicians are misusing it for personal gain and the sad part is that the followers are allowing themselves to be fooled because they are religion lovers and not God lovers

I find it funny that the first dictator you mention is osama yet you do not mention the modern day crusaders i.e: bush, blair and howard. All organised religion i.e:catholocism, islam as well as christianity are just tools used by the few to subjugate the many.
Now I am not saying that I do not believe in god, but I do not believe in the teachings of the men who believe that they are god.
