Just curious, Can a missionary elder fall in love with a local girl while on his mission and come back to marry her? I was told they can if he fell in love with her.

The Latter Day Saints exercise a great deal of control over their adherents, but an "Elder" can marry anyone or anywhere, unless he has no backbone and does whatever the church tells him to do. Depending on his choice, he might get a "not-so friendly" visit from the Bishop. I dated a Mormon lady. She felt the need to confess her normal desires. Her church officials practically demanded that she save her abusive, neglectful marriage to an insensitive clod. So, in summary, yes....he can marry anyone if he is willing to buck his religious advisers who always have his "best" spiritual interests at heart. Many churches may as well be barbed wire encampments. Their members are afraid to jump the fence.

Of course, he just cant show that he is in love with you while he is on his mission, he cant even be left alone with you as a matter of fact.

I don't agreed if he is going to marry that local girl. This is his earthly desire only. He should seek the kingdom of God first!
