Yes, it did tend to let Gary Condit off the hook to a large extent .In the book , "Sex,Power& Murder" - "Chandra Levy & Gary Condit, The affair that shocked America",
Condits' 1996 girlfriend is quoted as saying she witnessed his "hair-trigger temper ". After they met at the Laughlin , NV. biker run , Condit insisted on code names ( Millie & Floyd ). Chandra Levy was forbidden to even carry her ID when out with Condit .His conduct , as described in the book , is suspicious , to say the least .
