She was one of the bigger ones in the tank at the store. A few were swimming and bumping into and onto her. When I took her home I saw a slice in her chin that looks a little claw mark. It's not bleeding, but should I do something--besides, obviously, take her to the vet?

Would you take you child to a doctor for a cut? Not really, eh.

Clean it with betadine, iodine or Nalvasan. Put on some antibacterial cream (i.e. Polysporin). Let the RES sit in a dry box during the day. Then let it sleep at night in the water. It needs to dryout or else the cut will take a long time to heal or get infected.

Repeat this until you feel the cut has healed. It may take up to a week.

Good luck

I don't know much about turtles, if it seems to bother the turtle you could call a local animal shelter and ask them how to take care of it. Or call the pet store.

if it gets worse you can dab it with betadine twice a day. There are sulfa blocks that are sold a pet stores that help that kind of thing
