I only do it to have the map going in the same direction in which we are driving. If we are going north, I don't. Going South, I do. It's easier on the brain to not have to transfer directions twice. It's simpler. I've noticed electricians doing the same thing with schematics only they don't turn the map, they turn themselves! Especially when flooding and water leakage is involved! Whheeeoooo.

It makes sense to orient the map in the direction you are going. I do it too. Helps visualize the road ahead and the turns.

Because we like to look at solutions in all different angles. Its how our mind works. We don't just see things straight on, we have to look at all sides of it and see the depth of it and analyze things. That's what I do anyways.
