I have this friend, and her parents blame me for the way she is.
I dress "punk" and listen to "punk" music. And I showed her some bands and she liked them, and she dresses a little "punk" (I hate labels). Anyways, she tells her parents a bunch of good things about me, I've only met her mom once for like a second. But both her parents are saying that I'm the reason she's gotten a bad grade in a class I'm not even in when I'm a 3.8GPA student. They also blame me for the music she likes, which is a lot of screamo, emo, punk stuff. They keep telling her that she is "goth", and that her music is "goth" and that she is the way she is because she is trying to impress me, which isn't true. She does it because she wants to.
On the 10th I'm going over to her house because it is her birthday. Well, of course her parents will be there and I don't know what to do. I don't want to come over and be completely fake just to impress them, but I also don't want to leave an even worse impression.

Unfortunately, they've already formed an opinion about you, before even meeting you. Blaming you for the qualities that they don't approve of in their daughter is an easy out. They're angry and uninformed. A bad combo.
Yeah, I can understand that you want to be true to yourself when being around them, that you don't want to be fake, but you might want to be a bit more careful around them for the sake of your friendship with their daughter...Wear something neutral...
As for her grades, maybe if you helped tutor her in some of her classes to pull her grades up, her parents might come around a bit more.
The more her parents get to know you, the more likely you'll be able to win them over, although it depends on how thick-headed and prejudiced they are.

Is she an only child? If so, her parents might be responding negatively to the face that their "little girl" is growing up. They may not like the fact that she's becoming her own person, and they may feel like she doesn't need them anymore. If she's an only child, and her parents are ultra-conservative, no one she dates will ever be good enough for their little girl, so don't feel bad.

Her parents will just have to realize she's her own person and old enough to make her own decisions. They should be happy with the fact that she's happy with you. I hope all works out for you two, because you seem to really like her =)

I on no account found out how valueble my existence became til my son became born 5 years in the past. I lost all wish at ever looking love, and as quickly as I had him, I knew the place love lay the completed time, and it became in him. His father and that i on no account particularly have been given alongside, so i've got raised him on my own ever on account that. I agree that the story you published became depressing, in spite of the indisputable fact that it does make a guy or woman think of.

they can only blame you for the music
but not for the grades
gothic ness is bascially on attitude
try to have her listen to your type of music that doesnt envolve hating.

goth:
1. A style of rock music that often evokes bleak, lugubrious imagery.
2. a sloppy, everything hating person that evokes self pitty among themselves and others regardless of action.
