An offence is punishable for two reasons. First to render justice to the victim and secondly, to prevent the criminal and other potential criminals from such offences against society in future Some offences like murder can not be controlled unless the killer faces the fear of capital punishment. Capital punishment does give justice when the utmost care has been taken by the jJdge and is awarded in the rarest of the rare cases.

Yes. Provided that the person went through due process and is definitely guilty. Evil-doers feed on the weakness of others which is kindness. When you leave evil people to roam the streets or just imprison them then let them go after serving some time, they pass their criminal ideologies to others which in turn become new and even deadlier criminals. It may sound cruel I know but that is exactly what criminals want - The kind, tolerance of society.
If you are wondering why there is considerably high rate of crime in North America (and countries that doesn't practice death penalty) well, wonder no more.

In my opinion, no. Sometimes, the innocent are wrongly convicted and killed because of the death penatly. And in some cases, the people convicted of the death penalty volunteer willingly to get lethal injection. Those are major downsides of the death penalty.
However, there are people who deserve it. There are some people who have no remorse for the severe offenses that they committed deserve it. Even then, I still do not believe that the death penalty produces any good outcome. Simply, we are killing the murderers, who may or may not anticipate it.

When judiciously applied, yes.
Case in point, this recent bikini strangler. The suspect had just been released from prison for other sex crimes. If we put to death those convicted of rape and murder, when there's overwelming proof to convict, then we will at least prevent some crimes.
If you want to be honest, the Holy Scriptures says that if someone commits an act worthy of death, they should have two witnesses against them. There should be at least two keys and unequivocal peices of evidence that convicts a person. However, if that evidence is there, they should be put to death, and they should be put to death fairly quickly.
A man put to death cannot be a repeat offender.

This is an opinion question. There is a yes and a no to this. Yes it would in some cases due to the fact that families see it as, they took the life of their loved one, and so they should lose theirs. This to the greving family of the crime..Justice. And the No side to this is, no matter what you do, you can't go and undo what has been done. You can fry the person, by chair or lethal injection, can you replace what's been lose, undo what's been done.No you never can, but others see it as some sort of closure.

If someone murdered someone you love very much... what would you want done with that person?
I believe in the death penalty if loss of life was the outcome of his/her crime.

Nope. I say EYE for an EYE. I think rapists only get the justice they deserve, well at least a huge % of them. In prisons if you are a convicted rapist, child molester, etc you get raped. But I saw cut the penis.

No one who has ever received the death penalty, has ever committed another crime. THAT is a deterrent to crime.

No, it's just more killing. Taking a life in retaliation accomplishes
nothing. Of all of the civilized countries, we are the only one who
still practices capital punishment.
