I have to do a journal with 20 entries regarding plot to the Da Vinci Code book, and write a response on each entry. If anyone can just add a couple details, hopefully multiple people will contribute getting close to 20. Thanks...

“It is extraordinary how people have taken this book as gospel, it is factually incorrect in so many places,” she said. “There are two things people have focused on. The first is the [perceived] absence of any feminine element in organised religion, particularly the Abrahamic religions. When academic study of the Holy Grail began in the 19th century, one of the most influential theories was the Ritual or Anthropological theory, crystallized by Jessie Weston in the early 20th. This claimed that the Grail was a symbol of the feminine as portrayed in alleged fertility rites thought to have existed in antiquity. Part of the book’s popularity is that people have latched on to this assumption, in the belief that Christianity hasn’t paid enough attention to what Brown, among others, describes as the “Sacred Feminine”.

“The second obsession is with conspiracy theories, the idea that organised religion, specifically Roman Catholicism, has something to hide. In the run-up to the Millennium there were a host of films and novels stating that certain apocryphal and pseudepigraphical gospels and documents had been suppressed because of the truths they revealed about Jesus. The trouble with that is that most of these sources so often cited in popular culture as hermetically sealed in the Vatican are available, at least to scholars, in the various languages in which they were written, and some are even translated into English, though not in especially wide circulation.

“The book is written as a thriller, but because the author states that all the buildings and rituals are accurate , people are making pilgrimages to sites in the novel, only to discover that there is a palpable gulf between reality and pulp fiction, which has been confirmed by numerous experts in various fields, but people still have trouble accepting the reality of historical fact. Very often, these ‘pilgrims’ consider the experts part of the perceived giant cover-up.” by Anne Marie d"arcy

Have you ever felt like giving false information on a question like this? Maybe it makes me a bad person.... but I almost put something from "Angels and Demons" instead, just to teach you the value of doing your own homework. I guess by saying that, I'm kind of redeeming yourself.

Do you trust me? Here is my favorite part: Teabing talks about the famous painting "The Last Supper" and shows how one of the disciples in it may actually have been Mary Magdelene.

First read the book, then see the movie, choose your entries from those in the book and not in the movie so your prof think's you're brilliant. In the even your prof isn't brilliant, make a point of saying it's not in the movie. Have fun with that, eh?
