i go into the chat rm maine 7 and thats where i got it theres alot of name stealin and bootin there um gonna reboot or i guess reformat it when everything is fixed i would appreciate it if any one new how to help me so it dont happen again i have avg and adware i also have ysak as a chat client and regular yahoo how can i stop this from happening again i need something free to download and firewall sugestine plz help me i would greatly appreciate it i also have windows 2000

format the HDD then purchase a decent AnitVirus package.We use and recommend to customers the new anti virus suite by Computer Associates called Etrust Internet Security Suite.hhere in Australia it retails for about $60/12 month subscription.
The package contains the AV software,a spyware removal prog that is getting rave reviews as well as the ZoneAlarm firewall (full version) and an email spam filter..good value for money.

Reminder: Always update your anti virus software to protect you from new virus that might destroy your PC. And also upgrade to the latest service pack from the www.microsoft.com or simple click your windows update.
Most people said so that AVG can kill the brontok virus. But I have a friend who ownd an internet cafe is also infected by it, he tried everything to delete the virus but later ends up to reformat the computers.
It doesn't matter what antivirus software you use, the most important thing is to always get the latest update of your virus definitions (before you were infected by the virus). You have to connect to the internet to update your virus definitions. Its doesn't mean that if you buy the newest 2006 antivirus software will protect you until 2009. No, it will NOT protect you untill year 2009. Not unless you UPDATE your anti virus definitions regularly then it will protect you untill the year 2009. I suggest not using free antivirus softwares since they might not give out updates regularly.
I know this doesn't help you kill the virus, but this is one way where we protect ourself from viruses that can destroy our PC.

EDITED: If you know the exact name of the virus then you can search for its info and find a tool to kill that specific virus. If it does not helps, then reformat and reinstall a fresh copy of windows 2000 would be great! Remember to transfer all your important files to another drive (you know what I mean).

Get virus protection software and run a scan on your computer each time you log on. Also get a spyware removal program.

Well, make sure you keep get indows up to date and get yourself a good AV, and not download files from unknown senders.
