In the internet explorer browser click on your tools tab at the top of your screan, then click on where it reads "internet options" once open click on clear histroy.
I would also delete files and cookies, there on the same page as the clear histroy button.

Firstly, an IM (instant messenger) is not a web site. But to prevent your web site history (cookies) ensure that you regularly delete your history. To do this (if you're using Internet Explorer 6.0 or later) go:

Tools > Internet Options > Clear History/Temporary Internet Files

Or if you want to do it manually go to your user and locate the directory named 'Temporary Internet Files' and delete.

(N.B. you can only use IE 6.0's cookie deletion if you are an administrator)

You should also use anti-spyware software to ensure your Mom is not using IM spying technology such as Messenpass.

Hope this helped,

Your mom can't read your IM's unless you have logging turned on. Check your settings in preferences.

Your mom can see which sites you've been on if she looks at your history. You can wipe your history if you go into the settings of your browser.

If your mom has installed some type of tracking software, I don't know what to tell you. Just don't go where you're not supposed to go and you'll be fine.
