LIKE Optical character Recognisation software, is there any sftw available for Shape recognisation from photo?

OCR recognises charaters from image. Generally this comes with a scanner. Now I need a software Purely for Research purpose which will recognise various shapes from given image or Photo. Shapes can be common like circle, traiangle, polygon etc or some predifined like Heart, oval or S shaped etc. Is this software available? I need it verybadly.

I think IIIT Hyderabad is doing some research on something similar. Maybe you should get in touch with their computer vision team
