i got pulled over today for speeding, but the officer ended up giving me a ticket for "disobeying a traffic control device."

does anyone know if this will give points on my license, how many, and how much the fine might be for this sort of lesser charge?

THANKS!

You could probably look it up on your state's website. You could probably get the best answer from there.

disobeying a traffic control device is speeding. The traffic control device is the speed limit that is posted, yes you will get points unless you take traffic school. the fine depends on how fast you were over the limit.

You could argue it by sayingyou didn't "disobey a traffic control device", but you were speeding and you admit to it. They will sometimes lessen the charge.

Always go to court. The officer may not show up, or they judge may dismiss the charges. At the very least, you usually can avoid points, and the rise in insurance rates.

When you go to court, dress for it. Shirt and tie for men, business dress for women. (you want to dress like your grandmother would want you to, for church). Listen to the judge and show respect.

Good luck

It depends on the state where the infraction occured

Did you run a red/yellow light or blow through a stop sign or yield sign?

yes, you'll get points, but try to go to traffic school and have them dropped
