not to be unwelcoming but i thought that websites did not allow any1 under 13 to create accounts that collected personal information and doesn't yahoo collect personal info [full name + email], so yahoo doesn't allow accounts for people under 13...
unless, young gentleman, you have lied about your age?
anyway... just a thought =) welcome, and yes, be aware of weirdos and pevs...
and remember don't ever, ever, EVER give out any of your or family's personal information to anyone that asks for it and that includes your last name, phone #, address, email address if it has your full name in it, birthdate, or name/location of the school you go to... and of course, no social security numbers! heheh
when in doubt, ask your parents or an older sibling or friend

The internet has people who were born in *1996* using it? Now I feel old. Anyway, do yourself a favor and stay off MySpace. That's the best advice for any internet newbie. That, and make sure your google SafeSearch is ON.
