Two ways:

1. Just dump a thick layer of granite and put weed killer underneath. This works and I've done it but you need to keep replacing the granite every year.

2. Digging out the path about 6 inches and putting stabilizing sand
underneath, putting metal trim around the edges and 3 inches of granite on the top will last much longer.
