The urban legend is associated with the actor who played Gunther, Rachel's boss in the Coffee shop. No truth to it though, and all of the main cast members are still alive, one has gone through rehab, one had a failed sitcom, and two have given birth. One had a very public divorce, adn their "friends" helped them through it.

Of the actors who played the Friends or supporting actors? I haven't heard of anyone dying who was on Friends, but maybe one of the guest stars has.
In the story line, Pheobe's evil twin sister died I think (that was played by the same actress).

If it was, it was definitely not one of the main 6. It may have been an extra or minor character. Its tragic whoever it was. That was one of the best sitcoms of all time.
